Language of
Hinoki
Bách Thụ 檜
Lơ Lửng · Floating
encounter
Floating between two canopies, a question with no answer.
Hinoki is not a heavy-wood perfume. It is an observation of freshly-cut Japanese cypress. Old-forest scent held inside new grain. Dry. Cool. A breath that neither falls nor rises.
I am the language of a feeling left in mid-air. Of wood-breath caught between two canopies, neither moving on nor turning back. Of a word not yet spoken, a glance held one beat too long.
listen
A small gap, just enough to keep the heart unsettled.
There are small moments. A morning almost saying something, then stopping. An afternoon looking through a window for too long, then quietly turning away. A minute holding a melody cut off mid-note.
That is when the language of Hinoki is spoken. Not moving forward. Not returning either.
Not every feeling needs an answer. Not a close. Not a seal.
No scent arises alone. These are the fragments Hinoki borrows to find its voice.
echoes
A scent to bring home. A corner to share back.
In the language of Hinoki, every floating thing matters.
Hinoki can be a scent to bring home. A small corner on the desk. A wood-grain layer for an hour going nowhere in particular.
Or a corner to share back. Things not yet fallen. Stories needing no close. Only to be heard.
